Once January starts, the temperature drops almost immediately. These are the days where mastering the art of layering really comes into play. I think that a long wool overcoat, culottes, a simple high-neck sweater, and boots make for an elegant and sophisticated-looking winter outfit, but because they are looser fitting pieces they can also help disguise the fact that I’m actually wearing more layers than the eye can see. These under-layers consist of thick tights or some leggings that are underneath my culotte pants, a thermal top underneath my heavy-knit sweater, and thick fuzzy socks hidden by my tall boots. Wide leg pants or culottes make it easy to wear warmer layers underneath, and tall boots also help keep the warmth trapped against your legs to keep them warm. For someone who gets very cold very easily, any kind of trick can make a difference.
